STILL STANDING AT THE TOP
With 60.6 million records sold in the United
States, Elton John is now the No. 2 solo artist of all time, according to Recording Industry Association of America sales
figures for the month of August. Elton John's Greatest Hits was certified last month for sales of 15 million. His other multi-platinum
album awards are Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Greatest Hits Volume II, Madman Across The Water and Greatest Hits 1976-1986.
Elton's lastest release, The Big Picture, was awarded gold and platinum simultaneously, marking his 32nd gold and 21st platinum
album.

January 6, 1999 Elton John To Play The Fox ATLANTA, GEORGIA - Tickets go on sale Saturday for
Elton John's latest tour. He'll play the Fox Theater in Atlanta for the first time, February 23rd.
January 25, 1999 ELTON GOES IT ALONE Elton John is going solo for the first time.
Beginning next month, the singer will be touring small US cities with just his piano. It's his first time on the road without
a band. "It's a way to keep myself fresh and on my toes," Sir Elton, 51, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Playing alone
is rewarding because "you get to do numbers you don't normally perform with a band, and it gives you a chance to talk to the
audience," he said. The tour begins Feb. 19 in Roanoke VA. He will also play in Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, Michigan,
Louisiana, Iowa, Alabama and Illinois.

ALL: Collective Soul may have got lucky.
Elton John isn't always on his best behaviour. During a show in New York last week, the 53-year-old star threw another of
his famous hissy fits, informing the crowd that he plans to pack it in after making one more album. Say it ain't so, the shocked
fans gasped. OK. It ain't so. Elton's spokesman, presumably used to such outbursts, said yesterday that the announcement was
a "load of bollocks" and likely inspired by technical difficulties.

The Albany Herald-London-Elton John, one
of pop music's most flamboyant dressers, raised more than $615,000 for his AIDS foundation, with the sale of thousands of
items from his closet. Fans lined up for hours outside a London shop where 15,000 items of clothing from Elton John was on
sale last week.
It was the third time he had organized such
a sale, but this one was the most successful, breaking the previous record of $480,000.
The most expensive item sold was the suit
Elton John wore in the video of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight." It went for $5,000.
Elton John is in Albany, Georgia tonight
for a solo concert at the Albany Civic Center.
