Elton's Christmas Party released November 14, 2005

Elton, Universal Music Group and Starbucks Hear Music have released Elton John's Christmas Party, which includes a brand new Christmas duet between Elton and Joss Stone.

Elton John’s Christmas Party, a collection of Elton's favourite holiday party songs is available exclusively at Starbucks Company-operated stores in the U.S. and Canada and online at
starbucks.com.
The new compilation contains Elton's choice of 21 songs, and Starbucks and Universal Music Group will donate $2 for every CD sold to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The album includes Calling It Christmas, an exclusive brand-new duet by Elton John and Joss Stone written by Elton and Bernie Taupin especially for this collection. The CD’s liner notes, also written by Elton, describe why he selected each song in the compilation.

Among the songs Elton has selected are Chuck Berry’s Run Rudolph Run, Bruce Springsteen’s 1981 version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, the Eagles’ 1978 Adult Contemporary hit of Please Come Home For Christmas, Jimmy Buffett’s 1996 anthem Christmas Island, Rufus Wainwright’s 2003 Spotlight On Christmas and Elton’s own 1973 No. 1 pop smash Step Into Christmas. Elton also includes several songs which capture the spirit of the season, including U2’s New Year’s Day, John Mayer’s St. Patrick’s Day and Outkast’s
Playa’s Ball.

“Music plays a more important part at Christmas than at any other time of the year. It is the only season that has its own genre of music,'
explained Elton. 'recently it has become de rigueur to do a Christmas album. But I do not want to do one. I would rather compile this album of my favorite Christmas songs by my favorite artists."

Calling It Christmas

Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Available on the album "Elton John's Christmas Party"

On a hill long ago on a cold winter's night
In a land far away three kings saw a light
From heaven it shone like God's, God's own crown
And it guided three kings into Bethlehem town
Oh they came bearing gifts and so said each one
Let's call this day Christmas from this moment on
We'll be calling it Christmas in honor of him
The child in the manger our savior and king
chorus:
We've been calling it Christmas, keeping the faith
Knowing the reason we're saving the season
We've been calling it Christmas down through the years
Spreading joy to the world when Christmas is here
Oh a simple belief was the start of it all
A small child asleep on a bed made of straw
At the back of an inn where shephers and kings
First felt the joy this moment would bring
[repeat chorus]
[repeat chorus]

Yes, I know the month of December and Christmas are long over but still it's a fun holiday. So the songs will stay here. Besides, before one knows it, the holiday season will be upon us again.
1. Calling It Christmas
We've been calling it Christmas, keeping the faith
Knowing the reason we're saving the season
2. Cold As Christmas(In The Middle Of The Year)
So how come it's cold as Christmas in the middle of the year
3. Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who'd Be A Turkey At Christmas)
Sitting here on Christmas Eve
4. Merry Christmas Mary Thatcher
So merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher
May God's love be with you
5. Step Into Christmas
Welcome to my Christmas song
I'd like to thank you for the year
So I'm sending you this Christmas card
To say it's nice to have you here
6. White Christmas(not written by Elton of course, but I still like to listen to the recording of this song by Elton.)
I'm dreaming of a white Chirstmas
Just like the ones I used to know.
7.. Amen
See the little baby
Wrapped in a manger
On Christmas Morning
8. Durbin Deep
I won't see you `till Christmas
9. Levon
He was born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas day
10. Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters Part Two
When the snow falls
And Central Park looks like a Christmas card
11. No Valentines
No more Valentine's Day
No more Christmas cards

Beautiful Christmas wreath on door
